Keeley Hawes interested in stage work

Keeley Hawes spoke to Baz Bamigboye of the Daily Mail at the Frost/Nixon premiere. She had the following to say:

Keeley Hawes is quietly preparing to make her London stage debut next year.

The actress, who stars as DI Alex Drake in Ashes To Ashes on BBC TV, is planning to tread the boards next year - as long as she can make up her mind which play to choose. 'I want to be scared again,'Keeley told me as we chatted in the Park Lane Hilton's Windows On The World restaurant, where the private party for the world premiere of the film Frost/Nixon was being held.

'In fact, I am very scared - but also very excited,' Keeley added.

Once she has made up her mind on the play, she hopes to do a season on stage. 'I've done a lot of television and some films and I think it's about time,' she said.

Keeley's TV work includes playing Zoe Reynolds in Spooks, which is where she met acclaimed actor Matthew Macfadyen (who portrays John Birt in the riveting Frost/Nixon - a movie that manages to make politics sexy).

And, of course, Matthew is a celebrated stage actor, who will help Keeley confront her fears about theatre.

That's great!

I'm so excited about her doing stagework. I adore the theatre, and it'll be ten times better with Keeley in it.
